Use of MMi with Medicated Feeds

Montmorillonite clays are covered under AAFCO definition 87.5 which states that specific clays cannot be used in medicated feeds where the clay interferes with the analysis of the drug.

The drugs not permitted in animal feeds containing Montmorillonite/Bentonite clays because Montmorillonite/Bentonite clay has been shown to interfere with the analysis of the drugs by acceptable methods are:

  • Amprolium
  • Buquinolate
  • Carbadox
  • Decoquinate
  • Morantel tartrate
  • Nequinate
  • Oleandomycin
  • Pyrantel Tartrate
  • Robenidine hydrochloride
  • Thiabendazole
